Shaky Tour: East Coast 2016 —

THAYER SARRANO
Petra's (Charlotte, NC)

Thayer Sarrano at Petra's
Petra's

February 29, 2016 (Monday) - The Shaky Tour lands today on the rock of Petra's in Charlotte, North Carolina. Joining Thayer Sarrano onstage will be JoJo Glidewell (keys), William T. Kissane (drums), and Zack Milster (bass). A few days more, and Thayer's coterie will combine axes with the Drive-By Truckers. Together Sarrano and the DBTs shall dash up the East Coast, beginning with the Headquarters Live in Salisbury, Maryland. Other scheduled East Coast Sarrano openers for the Drive-By Truckers include: Washington, Brooklyn, Providence, Portland (ME), Jay (VT), Ithaca, Rocky Mount (VA), Cincinnati, Charlottesville, and Carrboro (NC). We would like to thank the Drive-By Truckers for making this leg of the Shaky Tour such a significant undertaking.

Opening the proceedings at Petra's for the Sarrano fuzz quartet will be Charlotte natives Faye. We would like to thank Petra's for welcoming Thayer Sarrano back again. Performing as a trio, Thayer visited previously their cabaret on September 29th of 2015, during the first East Coast leg of the Shaky Tour. This run and those prior are in support of Shaky -- named as one of the top albums of 2015 by PopMatters and Flagpole Magazine. Please visit the Thayer Sarrano Bandcamp page. There you'll find a place where CDs, vinyl, and T-shirts are expedited worldwide -- including to your very doorstep. Consider also Thayer's Concert Ledger to keep track of dates and venues, as she and her clique roam to a town, resort, or metropolis near you.

FIVE FINGERTIPS
Just Off The Radar (Athens, GA)

Five Fingertips on Just Off the Radar
Mixtape Episode #442

February 28, 2016 (Sunday) - We were both surprised and delighted to receive a message from the good JoE Silva of Just Off The Radar back in late November 2015, informing us that a tune by Five Fingertips -- "The Lines" -- made the cut for December on Chef Hugh Acheson's Mixtape - Episode #442. Five Fingertips found his jingle rubbing coin with both Killing Joke and the band with two umlauts, giving HTML-coders who are faithful to foreign diacritics nightmares everywhere -- yes, that's right -- Hüsker Dü. You can find "The Lines" on Five Fingertips' self-titled debut, where it serves as the album's opening track. The song features backing vocal harmonies from John Keane of John Keane Studios, where the LP was mixed in its entirety, by the man himself.

We apologize for the belatedness of our public "Thank You" to Just Off the Radar. Our only defense is to say that, first, we were indeed very thankful from the outset in the privacy of our own office. And, second, we didn't take nearly as long to say "Thank You" as Pandora did to list the Five Fingertips album on its music-streaming service. We submitted the record back in April 2015, when it was released. We received a message from them saying that they had placed the LP on Pandora's Musical Genome Project (or something like that) just last week! A near year.

Shaky Tour: East Coast 2016 —

THAYER SARRANO
The 5 Spot (Nashville, TN)

Thayer Sarrano at the Flicker
The 5 Spot

February 27, 2016 (Saturday) - Today Thayer Sarrano's Shaky Tour arrives at The 5 Spot in Tennessee. There it will dance in the long shadows of that full-scale replica of the Athenian Parthenon, a replica which served as the backdrop for Robert Altman's sprawling country-music melodrama Nashville. (As a film, we actually preferred Altman's equally sprawling Short Cuts, if only because Tom Waits had a part.) Thayer Sarrano performs live with her quartet, presently comprised of, proceeding alphabetically, JoJo Glidewell (keys), William T. Kissane (drums), and Zachariah Milster (bass). The group will hook-up in a few days with the Drive-By Truckers, for a dash up the East Coast, starting at Headquarters Live in Salisbury, Maryland. Just prior, there are two stop-overs slated for North Carolina: Petra's in Charlotte, and Arcana in Durham.

Sarrano's fuzz-fest will open this evening's 5 Spot proceedings, for Nashville locals -- (locals of the cosmos and beyond, really) -- Justin and the Cosmics. Fellow Nashville natives American Watermelon are also featured, if we read the bill correctly. We would like to thank The 5 Spot for welcoming back Thayer Sarrano. With her trio, she previously visited that venue on September 25, 2015, for what was the East Coast Version 1.0 of the Shaky Tour. This and the tour's previous legs are all in support of Shaky, released in August 2015, and listed as one of the top albums of the year by Flagpole Magazine and PopMatters. Please visit the Thayer Sarrano Bandcamp page. From there vinyl, CDs, and T-shirts ship worldwide. (A vinyl hotcake was packaged and expedited just today to the Balkans, more specifically Croatia, and zeroing-in still more Zagreb.) Also consider Thayer's Concert Ledger to keep track of shows, as she and her entourage venture to a town or metropolis near you. Going global since 2009.

THAYER SARRANO
The Flicker Theater (Athens, GA)

Thayer Sarrano at the Flicker
Flicker Theater

February 26, 2016 (Friday) - Today marks the day that the wheels start to turn once more on the Shaky Tour. Thayer Sarrano performs live, locally, at the Flicker Theater in Athens, GA. Her quartet this evening will be comprised of JoJo Glidewell (keys), William T. Kissane (drums), and Zack Milster (bass), proceeding alphabetically. This incarnation of the ever-shifting Thayer Sarrano ensemble will then take to the road, the very next day, traveling to The 5 Spot in Nashville and then two locales in North Carolina, before joining the Drive-By Truckers, for a tour run up the East Coast. Also peforming tonight at the Flicker will be several acts, some of whom joined Thayer for various performances on the East Coast Version 1.0 of the Shaky Tour, across September and October 2015. These include: She Returns from War and Brian Robert, two artists signed to 10 Foot Woody Records, based up the road in Columbia, South Carolina, home to Papa Jazz Record Shoppe. Also peforming tonight will be the local Athens musician Andrew Klein of Sam Sniper. As previously, this show, like those in the fall of 2015, were masterminded by the good people of Stereofly Magazine. Many thanks! The performance tonight at the Flicker Theater, and the tour, are all in support of Thayer Sarrano's new album -- Shaky -- released in August 2015. It was listed as one of the top albums of the year by our local Flagpole Magazine as well as PopMatters. Please visit the Thayer Sarrano Bandcamp page to snatch up for yourself some vinyl, a CD, or a T-shirt. Also consider Thayer's Concert Ledger to keep track of shows, as her ensemble rumbles to a town near you.

(Event Poster: Sarrano Designs)

January 29, 2016 (Friday) - Thayer Sarrano performs at the The 40 Watt Club (Athens, Georgia). This show is part of the annual Camp In Festival, the East Coast analog of Camp Out. Thayer performs with her own band, before joining headliners Camper Van Beethoven, Cracker, and still other ensembles across the three-day showcase. Thayer's six-piece band is, proceeding alphabetically, constituted by: JoJo Glidewell (keys), William T. Kissane (drums), Bubba McDonald (bass), Zack Milster (baritone guitar), Dan Nettles (guitar), and Thayer Sarrano (vox, guitar).
