THAYER SARRANO
(Deal, UK)

Thayer Sarrano - The Lighthouse (Deal, UK)

September 17, 2016 (Saturday) - It continues today. The Tour Europa of Thayer Sarrano moves closer to the English coast, to the city of Deal, there in the county of Kent, there in the UK, where the salt seas are never that far away. Ted Kuhn (bass) and Jason Nazary (drums) join Thayer Sarrano onstage at The Lighthouse. Overlooking the Channel, across The Straits and the nearby White Cliffs of Dover, the Thayer Sarrano Three perform in support of Madame. Madam is a band, made up of Sukie Smith (vocals and guitar), Jeff Townsin (drums), Sam Willard (guitars), John Robertson (guitars), Gareth Moss (bass), and Sarah Gill (cello / keyboard). Their discography boasts three albums. The first, In Case of Emergency (2008), is available under the Reveal Records imprint. The second, Gone Before Morning, was released in 2011. Their newest album, Back to the Sea, is out since just last month, on Schilling Boy Records, as was also the case with the previous Madam long-player.

Up next, Thayer Sarrano recreates her own version of that recent historical event known as Brexit, only, rather than leaving the European Union, Thayer instead heads towards it, and exits Britain. Tuesday, September 20th, she visits The Continent, specifically, Espace B, of Paris. Located in the 19th Arrondissement, Espace B is situated along the scenic canal system of the French capital. The stretch known as the Canal Saint-Martin, in the contiguous 10th Arrondissement, is a favorite among our gang of menacing yet humble Guildwater scribal thugs -- imagine WWA tag-team wrestling with quills and ink pots. Let it be said, however, that there is nothing shabby about the Bassin de la Villette itself. Picturesque is the area right around the Jaurès Métro stop. It is an excellent area for accidentally riding your bike the wrong way, into oncoming traffic. The stop is named after Jean Jaurès, the SFIO leader and pacifist, who was gunned down on the eve of the First World War. Not far from Espace B, and in its same 19th Arrondissement, we should highlight the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont, which figured prominently in Le Paysan de Paris of Louis Aragon, a piece of literature that hardly qualifies as an "extract from Reader's Digest," about which Serge Gainsbourg might have sung. The Parc boasts the most formidable subway staircase known to human-kind. Slightly more of a stretch, but still not so far off, is the Porte des Lilas. That particular Métro stop figured famously in the song "Poinçonneur des Lilas," by this same Serge Gainsbourg. But, as in all cases, the best way to see the city is with your two feet, avoiding the Métro completely. May we also counsel Gainsbourg's Histoire de Melody Nelson for the listening pleasure of your two ears. (Quite a session band! Please note this is not pirated music, but rather tunes made available to you via the Universal Music Group.) This Guildwater Travel Advisory is brought in part by Shaky -- the latest studio release from Thayer Sarrano. It is available in MP3-format on iTunes, where you can also find Lift Your Eyes to the Hills (2012). Those two records are also available in physical formats (CD / LP for Shaky, and Hills on CD) via Bandcamp. There you can also find her album King (2009).

THAYER SARRANO
(London, UK)

Thayer Sarrano - The Moth Club (London, UK)

September 16, 2016 (Friday) - It begins today -- Thayer Sarrano's Tour Europa -- even if she and her fellow road warriors -- Edward "Ted" J. Kuhn, Master of Fine Arts (bass) and Jason Nazary (drums) -- commenced their travels still earlier. The London stage of the Moth Club welcomes these three musicians, along with two other bands. Local Londoners Fog Digging Sessions figure as headliners, possessing two albums to their credit. Both are available via Soundcloud. Based out of Los Angeles, California, Pollyanna Valentine forms another part of tonight's bill. Examples of their own brand of spacious, dream pop can equally be found on Soundcloud.

Word of Thayer Sarrano's appearance at The Moth Club has spread worldwide, with little to no promotional efforts on the part of we Guildwater Scribes. We say this because it was recently drawn to our laser-like attention that Lady Gaga, just last week, rushed there to perform and hastily promote her recent single -- "Perfect Illusion." This was clearly a calculated effort on Gaga's part to steal Thayer's thunder, to soak up Thayer's underground indie rock credentials, while basking preemptively in the forthcoming resplendent purple aura of the Thayer Sarrano Experience. Outer layers of this aura hummingly -- (it actually emits a humming sound) -- reached London months ago, when this show was first announced. We find it flattering, but who could blame her, really, that Gaga would be all à go-go, about Sarrano, like a moth to a lamppost, in this otherwise dark night, called die Welt (the world).

As with previous ventures, we Guild Scriveners are especially grateful and beholden to someone, when not a posse of people. In this case, we would especially like to thank our excellent comrades and vibrant pals at Interstellar Music (MHF & Co.), who helped make this Tour Europa of Thayer Sarrano a possiblity. There are many exciting tour dates on the immmediate horizon, with Zürich, the birthplace of the Dada art movement, and haven to Interstellar, figuring as the most elevated among them, both literally and figuratively, in our eyes.

Additionally, we are delighted to unveil -- on our website anyway -- the official Tour Europa poster. This image, perhaps familiar to you, displays so well the aura (green-hued, in this case) emanating from Thayer Sarrano, about which we above spoke, and which Gaga moth-like seeks. If you look closely, you will notice that the light is not coming in from the window, but rather radiating outwards from Thayer herself, batteries not included, nor needed. This is no parlor trick. This photograph is the product of that mastercraftsman over at Curtis Wayne Millard Studio, whose work has appeared in Rolling Stone, Spin, Billboard, Entertainment Weekly, and USA Today, among others. CWM Studio is based in New York, yet this particular photo session went down in Nashville. CWM Studio is also crafting the forthcoming music video for Thayer's song "Thieves," due out later this year.
