Thayer Sarrano
(Video Release)

"Thieves"
(Crafted by: CWM Studio)

February 21, 2017 (Tuesday) - We extend considerable thanks to Lesley Daunt of the Huffington Post, for premiering the new video for the song "Thieves," from the album Shaky, by Thayer Sarrano. Daunt writes: "The clip is a slow-churning montage of arresting images -- both celestial and earthbound -- intercut with Sarrano’s ghostly figure whisper-singing the lyrics. Created using in-camera effects, it’s an entrancingly surreal companion piece to the brooding track." The video is the craftwork of Curtis Wayne Millard Studio, who draws inspiration here and more broadly from Stanley Kubrick and Terrence Malick. Commenting for the article, Millard states: "To me, the song is very cinematic, so I knew right away that I wanted to make a tone poem of sorts in that same spirit." Many thanks also to the good people of Baby Robot Media for engineering the publicity campaign, as well as Aaron Lee Tasjan, he of the impeccably spangled suit -- also CWM-Designed -- for opening the black book of numbers and addresses on this one. The work of Curtis Wayne Millard Studio has appeared in Rolling Stone, Spin, Billboard, Entertainment Weekly, and USA Today, among other notable outlets.

THAYER SARRANO
(Athens, GA)

The 5 Spot (Nashville, TN) (Event Poster: Danielle Shoda

February 16, 2017 (Thursday) - Thayer Sarrano performs live this evening in support of the Drive-By Truckers (DBTs). This event is part of the DBTs' annual HeAthens Homecoming, a three-day festival, where the diaspora returns to the mothership that is The 40 Watt in Athens. The DBTs released their new album -- American Band -- in September 2016, with session work accomplished at Electric Lady Studios -- the house that Hendrix built -- in New York. You can check out a recent interview with Patterson Hood and Mike Cooley of the DBTs on CBS This Morning. There they address everything from their own band's history, to that of this country's, and the subjects and outrage that inform the recent record, events such as the 2015 massacre at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, on Calhoun Street, in Charleston, South Carolina. Care for a music video for the new Cooley-crafted DBTs single? Watch "Surrender Under Protest." Proceeds from the HeAthens Homecoming go to the benefit of Nuçi’s Space, a local non-profit organization, established in the year 2000. Nuçi’s Space functions as a "support/resource center dedicated to promoting the emotional, physical and occupational well-being of the music community." This time a year ago, Thayer Sarrano joined the Drive-By Truckers on the road, an adventure which constituted her Shaky East Coast 2.0 Tour. You can read our chronicles of that saga, found here in the Guildwater Archives. Thayer also performed in support of Patterson Hood for a series of his solo shows in Portland and Seattle, folding these appearances into her larger West Coast 1.0 Tour of late 2015. Scroll entries on these matters are also found in our Scriptorium, which gives us ample opportunity to highlight again Hood's video for "Heat Lightning Rumbles in the Distance," of which we never fatigue.
