Thayer Sarrano Acoustic Chamber - Live from the Georgia Theatre

October 19, 2018 (Friday) - We could think of no better way to continue to celebrate the release, from two weeks ago, of the new dream-grunge psych-rock single -- "I Will Never Be Used to Your Beauty" by Thayer Sarrano, along with its lyrical companion Book of Drawings -- than to throw in, for the general delectation of the public, a new live EP and accompanying video, by the same said artist, only transplanting this time the same song (and a few others -- some older, some new) into the setting of a string ensemble. It is a well-worn, standardized, textbook, record label stratagem to proceed in this fashion.

The name of the EP, out today, is: Live from the Georgia Theatre. It is the recorded performance of the Thayer Sarrano Acoustic Chamber, as captured complete, both on tape and on film, from start to finish, as part of what was the Don Chambers Album Release Show, back earlier, in May of this very year. We cannot thank all the participants enough, from the immortal Thayer Sarrano herself, to the bevy of musicians brimming with skills, who supported her then, proceeding alphabetically: Keiko Ishibashi (violin), William Kissane (guitar, vocals), (cool hand) Luca Lombardi (bass), Jeremy Raj (oud, vocals), and Serena Scibelli (violin). We would also like to thank all those who engineered, mixed, mastered, and illuminated the proceedings: R. Sloan Simpson of Southern Shelter, who recorded the live audio, Andy LeMaster of Chase Park Transduction, who mixed the tracks, Jason Nesmith of that same said concern, who mastered those tracks, and Jason Huffer, who gave this performance its illumination.

As for the release schedule, the EP is out on physical CD today, and only available at the Thayer Sarrano Show, tonight at the 40 Watt in Athens, Georgia. (More about this show of this evening in a moment.) From there, across the weekend, copies of the CD will be made available exclusively on the Thayer Sarrano Bandcamp Page. Still further on, in the coming weeks, we will trickle the release out to the digital world of streaming. And what better way to encourage you to press play on all 30-minutes of the film of the same title -- Live from the Georgia Theatre -- as found on the YouTube Channel of Thayer Sarrano, when she is ready to release it. The film captures an indelible Sarrano performance, one for the ages.

As if these things were not enough, does The 40 Watt Club (in conjunction with The Georgia Theatre) have a bill for you tonight. It's the talk of the town, from the alley-ways of Athens, to the streets of Tokyo. The Thayer Sarrano Acoustic Chamber serenades the world, opening this evening, with all due deference and respect for these truly unique headliners -- Kikagaku Moyo (幾何学模様), which is Japanese for "Geometric Patterns." Kikagaku Moyo is on world tour, fresh from China and Indonesia, now touring the States, and embarking for Europe very soon. Their music defies genres. Borders get crisscrossed. We aren't even going to attempt a description. It defies our powers. We are simply going to push you towards their website, to discover this refreshing music for yourself. We should also flash in neon marquee lettering that Calico Vision -- local Athenians -- will also join in festivities this evening. Check, check, check them out.

This 7" vinyl single from Thayer Sarrano -- "I Will Never Be Used to Your Beauty" -- and the book of the same title, along with her new live EP are but an entr'acte. The main course is still further up the line.
