THAYER SARRANO
(Athens, GA)

Thayer Sarrano - The Georgia Theatre

June 15, 2017 (Thursday) - Tonight in Athens, Georgia, Thayer Sarrano offers up an open-air performance on The Rooftop of the Georgia Theatre. Sarrano plays alongside headliner T. Hardy Morris, billed this evening as Hardy and the Hardknocks. Also joining in the rooftop parade will be Dave Marr. Considering that Thayer sometimes accompanies these other acts on keys, while also offering occasional vocal assistance, it's likely to be a jam-packed evening for the dark-haired wunderkind (the aforementioned Sarrano). These three acts (meaning, Sarrano, Morris, Marr) then take tomorrow to the road, moseying down to Atlanta, to commandeer the 529. Thayer last played the Georgia Theatre Rooftop in September of last year, as a capstone to her Shaky East Coast 2.5 Tour, our Archives reveal.

Athens Potluck - Jason Thrasher

All three of these artists (meaning, again, Sarrano, Morris, Marr) find themselves featured in Jason Thrasher's forthcoming Athens Potluck, a photographic journey across the Athens music scene. The book is due out later this fall, from Deeds Publishing. As previously and always, we again remind our undevoted readership that, if you missed out on the opportunity afforded to you by the modern phenomenon of crowdfunding -- that is, of either forcing Thrasher and Thayer to dine with you at The Grit, or exacting a royal-command performance of several Athenian musicians at your palatial estate or shanty -- you can still yet order your advance copy of Athens Potluck today. As we never tire of noting, more than a few of these Thrasher images find themselves ensconced at the Georgia Theatre, including one, we are told, of Thayer Sarrano herself. Since we cannot trust our scurrilous readership to go so far as to read our very journal entries -- (we write for the ages anyway, forever undaunted and unflummoxed) -- much less lift a finger so as to click upon a link -- we took the liberty of embedding here below, once and for all, (which is not to say we won't do it again), this oft-referenced Tweet from Jacob Deaton. We hope you enjoy it as much as we.

Thayer Sarrano - The East Room (Nashville, TN)

May 22, 2017 (Monday) - The East Room in Nashville hosts a performance by Thayer Sarrano this evening. Sarrano offers her set, opening for Ian Fitzgerald, a native of Providence, Rhode Island, sporting (Fitzgerald, to clarify the antecedent, not Rhode Island) a leonine mane that is the envy of the world's music community. Fitzgerald is currently on tour with his band Something Else, in support of his new album -- You Won't Even Know I'm Gone (2016). Previous releases include: No Time to Be Tender, from 2013, and Empty Like the Lion Den, from 2009. Also performing at the East Room tonight is Chloe Kat (a.k.a. Kat-Milk-Blu). Originally from Los Angeles, but now residing in Nashville, Kat boasts three EPs to her credit: Wanderlust (2016), Visions of the Sun (2015), and Illusions of a Muse (2014). Rounding out the show this evening is New York-based Coco Reilly. Reilly has composed music for the short-film Affections, and has an album in the works.

Thayer Sarrano - Caledonia Lounge (Athens, GA)

April 19, 2017 (Wednesday) - Thayer Sarrano performs at the Caledonia Lounge in Athens, Georgia. Foregoing (again) her standard rock lineup (solo / duet / trio / quartet / quintet / sextet / septet / octet / nonet / it's all good), Thayer is joined instead by The Sarrano Chamber -- featuring acoustic guitar, violin, viola, cello, double bass, and, of course, vocals. This event is part of the April Residency of the indie pop band DEGA -- fellow Athenians. Their self-entitled album appeared in 2016, from which the MTV television show Scream culled and featured the single "Right Type of Lover." More to our scribal preference: consider checking out the DEGA song "Fox Hole" as found on YouTube, as filmed in Savannah, as part of the Florida-based series Off The Avenue. Also joining in at the Caledonia this evening will be Indianola, from Jackson, Mississippi, whose debut EP Zero was released in December of 2015. Consider enjoying "Another Thing Coming," one part of a live series of videos, performed at Kelly's Pool Hall, on Johns Island, in South Carolina. Only a master such as Curtis Wayne Millard Studio could sculpt low-light celluloid with such deft ease and smoothness. Our Archive Manuscripts -- sometimes erroneous, often musty, but always fresh -- reveal to us that Thayer Sarrano last performed at the Caledonia Lounge in June 2016. Won't you not read our tales of yore? (This last sentence is a double-negative, meaning, you are legally and otherwise exempt from visiting our Vaults.)

Thayer Sarrano - I Can See Athens from Here - Exit / In (Nashville, TN)

April 8, 2017 (Saturday) - Thayer Sarrano has the honor of participating in an extraordinary showcase at the Exit / In in Nashville -- entitled "I Can See Athens From Here." The benefit is dedicated to celebrating the music culture of Athens (GA), as represented by numerous local artists, more than a few of whom are Nashville residents by transplant. Joining in the festivities will be (listed alphabetically): David Barbe, Billy Bennet, Payton Bradford, Drew Dixon, Parker Gispert, International Friendly, Seth Murray, New Madrid, Thayer Sarrano, and James Wilson, among others. Proceeds are for the benefit of Nuçi’s Space, a non-profit organization, established in the year 2000, in Athens. Nuçi’s Space functions as a "support/resource center dedicated to promoting the emotional, physical and occupational well-being of the music community." Earlier this year, Thayer Sarrano participated in another event with proceeds also earmarked for Nuçi’s Space. This was the annual HeAthens Homecoming hosted by the Drive-By Truckers. You can read our rendition of that event here in our ever spry Archives.
